At-Home Slimming Body Wrap to Tighten & Detoxify

If you watched the video of our amazing body wrap at LA SlimWrap and can’t get to the spa, here’s my at-home version that I created with detoxifying essential oils and minerals that really WORKS. I think that all moms should have access to this crazy, yet very effective treatment!  GO FOR IT!

WHAT YOU NEED

  1. Epsom salt (I like lavender-scented. Mineral salt works too.)
  2. Aloe Vera liquid
  3. Essential oils:  juniper, lemon, vetiver, naiouli
  4. Ace Bandages (1-2 bandages per body area)
  5. Plastic wrap
  6. Plastic squirt bottle

Slim Wrap Solution

*Double this recipe if you plan to wrap your whole body.

  1. Boil 3 cups of water in large pot. Remove from heat.
  2. Add 1 cup of Epsom salts. (I like lavender-scented salt.)
  3. When salt is dissolved, add ½ cup aloe vera liquid.
  4. Add 3 drops each of these detoxifying essential oils:  juniper, lemon, vetiver, naiouli.

Soak ace bandages in the warm solution and start wrapping immediately. The best place for this is your bathtub or shower.  Begin with your problem areas.  To wrap your entire body, ask a friend to help.  The key is to wrap tightly (just don’t cut off your blood circulation) and keep the bandages wet.

How to Wrap Your Body:

Step #1. Choose the areas you want to wrap. I recommend starting with the stomach area and then wrapping the hips and legs.  You can then wrap the rest of your body.  Try to wrap as tightly as possible and tuck the bandages in so they don’t come loose.

Step #2. Take remaining solution left in the pot and pour it into a squirt bottle.  Squirt more solution onto any areas that may feel like they are drying out.

Step #3.  Once you’re wrapped, you can & should move around.  To keep the solution from evaporating, try wrapping the bandaged area with plastic wrap (a secret I learned from a very slim & trim Japanese friend). DO NOT wrap your head or neck area. Move carefully for the next 50 minutes.  Occasionally, squirt more of the solution onto the bandages.

Step #4.  After 50 minutes, unwrap yourself and dry off.  Allow the solution to remain on your skin for at least 8 hours (so wait to shower).  The herbal scent is actually very nice.  Drink lots of water for the next 24 hours. While you may be tired after the wrap, you should feel rejuvenated and more energetic the next day.  You’ll see results after just one wrap, but if you do this wrap once every 10 days for 4-5 times you’ll see even better results.

  5. Greetings! I’ve been following your blog for a long time now and finally got the bravery to go ahead and give you a shout out from Kingwood Tx! Just wanted to say keep up the good job!

  6. Jessica says:

Do we need the essential oils?

    • Michelle Karam says:

You can do it with out the essential oils, but they absolutely make all the difference in terms of keeping your skin soft! They also aid in relaxation.

  7. Laura from Miami says:

okay so I’ve been wanting to do a body wrap for the past ever but I just never had the money to do it so I started searching “homemade body wraps” and I came across your blog. I really like the idea of using natural ingredients that you know you put yourself rather than random chemicals that you may not know are in the wrap that is being purchased and so I went on a crazy hunt to buy all these ingredients. I am really excited to try it so I will definitely be back with information regarding my results thanks so much Michelle!!

  8. Crystal says:

Where do I get oils and aloe Vera liquid

    • Michelle Karam says:

Any health food store will have them, or try amazon.com. Best of luck! We would love to hear how the wrap worked out for you!

  9. Kathryn says:

I am wanting to try ther slimming body wrap but i am having troubles finding the oils and if i do find them they are so exspencive any sugestions or lead me in the right direction please

    Thank you

    • Michelle Karam says:

Hi! Thanks for reading! You can find most of these oils at any health foods store (Whole Foods) or you can try Amazon.com!
We would love to hear how it worked for you! xo Michelle & Michelle

  10. Tania Fontanez says:

Do the essential oils play a roll in the tightening and detox? I’m having trouble finding certain oils but I definitely want to try this!!

    • Michelle Ebbin says:

Yes, the essential oils play a big part on the detox process. They work together to help your body release toxins and tighten up. All of the oils should be available in most health food stores (Whole Foods), as well as at many drugstores (CVS, RiteAid, etc.). Good luck!

  11. Brittany says:

Can I find the aloe vera and oils at walmart by chance? Or like a grocery store?

    • Michelle Ebbin says:

The essential oils should be available at most drugstores, including Walmart. Some grocery stores, too, carry the oils.

  12. Marina says:

    Hello,
I really want to try this body wrap but I have a hard time to find vetiver and niaouli essential oils in stores. If anyone knows which store carry them please let me know. Thank you so much.

    • Michelle Ebbin says:

      Hi Marina,
Try Whole Foods or any health food store. If they don’t have it (and they should!), they can always order it for you. Another option is to go online and order from a site. I recommend: http://www.auracacia.com. Good luck and hope you like the wrap! -michelle

  13. Wency says:

Hi, I went out and got the ingredients and was not able to find the Aloe Vera Liquid, does the Aloe Vera Juice work as well? Thanks

  14. Tania Fontanez says:

I’m so excited to try this I finally found most of the ingredients! I haven’t found naiouli though only neroli… Are those the same or similar in any way? Thanks!!

  15. Mimi L says:

Hello ladies!! had a baby 3 months ago. I had a c-section and I’m really not happy about my stomach nowadays :( I really, really want to try this wrap! I actually already bought all the ingredients. But now I’m wondering if its safe for me to use bc I am breastfeeding my baby girl. Please let me know, thx !!

    • Michelle Ebbin says:

Congrats Mimi! This wrap and all the essential oils in it are definitely safe while you are breastfeeding. I would recommend a shower or bath after the wrap, though, since the scent of the oils is strong and newborns are very sensitive to smells. They want to smell you! So, go ahead and try the wrap, but before you breastfeed makes sure the oils are washed off your skin. Hope you like it! It really works!

  16. PrayerRider says:

Can I do this if I have high blood pressure? It is not dangerously high but I do take a couple of meds for it. I would love to try this. I have really ugly blubbery fat around my middle and on my arms, hips, and thighs, and been going nuts trying get rid of it, and nothing I do makes me lose a pound. Even exercise and dieting doesn’t help, although I do eat right and don’t eat junk foods or processed foods or soda pop. It seems like there’s so many things I am not allowed to do with my High bllod pressure, and I have tried lots of natural remedies to control it, but my meds are the only things that seems to control it. I am fairly healthy otherwise. So would this be safe for me to try?

  17. PrayerRider says:

By the way, I forgot add that I have just started menopause, too. How would that affect this, I wonder?

  18. Tracey says:

Is there anything we can use in place of one or more of the essential oils?

  19. Kelley says:

Would sea salt work instead of Epsom salt? I have scented sea salt soak that spas use for pedicures.

    • Michelle Karam says:

Ok Kelley, so we are gonna give you the long of it and the short of it… Epsom salt would be best, as it is actually not a true salt but a naturally occurring pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate. The magnesium helps to produce serotonin, a mood-elevating chemical within the brain that creates a feeling of calm and relaxation. It also removes toxins, impurities and excess water weight. While we think sea salt would work- it would work in a different kind of way! But as our motto always goes, sometimes when you’re doing DIY beauty treatments at home, ya gotta work with what you’ve got! So give it a try and we would love to hear how it works out for you! Thanks for following us and keep watching! Our latest video on the bird poop “Geisha Facial” will make you laugh if nothing else! xo Michelle & Michelle

  20. Abbey says:

Thanks so much for this article! Just wondering if this would work with Cypess Oil, Cedarwood, and melaleuca/tea tree oil instead of Juniper, Vetiver, and Niaouli? I only ask bc I have these on hand and wouldn’t have to invest on oils :)

  21. Stephanie says:

    Hello!

Do you think a roll of gauze would work instead of an ACE bandage?

  22. Sophie says:

Hi! I was wondering if the wrap would still work without the aloe vera and how long the results will last? (especially on the legs) Thanks for the amazing tip!

  23. Courtney says:

Just wondering has anybody else done this wrap and what was their results? I LOVE this website.. you girls are gorgeous!

    • Courtney says:

Also, just how “essential” (lol) are the essential oils? :) Do they help with the detox or do they provide aromatherapy? I know a nice smell would be nice but if i couldnt get the oils would it do any good to just subtract from the equation??

      Thanks Michelle’s!

      Courtney

      • Suzi says:

Essential oils are aromatherapy, but aromatherapy is not just scent; it’s actually the therapeutic benefits the oils have. So they are essential! I use juniper oil in a skinny bath frequently & it is a very powerful diuretic! :) I highly recommend using the oils if you can.

  24. Carrie says:

I did this wrap without the oils a few weeks ago and loved the results. I tried my dress on Thursday before the wrap and it just fit; then I wrapped that evening. Saturday the dress was a little looser, more roomy and comfortable. I wore the dress again Sunday and it felt at least two sizes too big! I noticed the most difference in my bust, which was awesome because I’m a G cup and I’m often struggling to not spill out of evening wear. And I didn’t even have to wrap my chest; only my thighs and belly. So be prepared for the effects to show up for days. I’m actually wrapped up again right now. :) I measured myself this time so I’ll post my results. I still haven’t bought the oils yet, but I dropped a chamomile tea bag in to steep while the mixture cooled down enough to use. The first time I squirted in some Aloe Vera gel I had sitting in the bathroom forever, but this time I used aloe juice I bought at Walmart. I also put some shapewear over my cling wrap covered bandages to give more pressure. Half an hour to go!

    • Trish says:

Hi I’ve been looking everywhere for the right body wrap I’m doing the wrap now 18 Minutes in I reply bak with my results daily :) thank-you

  25. courtney says:

I’ve done this wrap twice and haven’t gotten any results. What am i doing wrong? I followed directions to a T. The only thing is that i used a different oil than niaouli..i think neuroli or something similar to that name. Everything else i used the same. Any ideas??

    -courtney

  26. E says:

Do I really need the oils

  27. cher says:

Hi, im gonna do this, but was wondering how long the results last?? Please answer thanks

    • Michelle Karam says:

Although the results are permanent (WE WISH!) they generally last a few days. We think this is the perfect treatment if you’re going to a special event and want to fit into something that’s a little snug on you.

  28. Brittany says:

I really wanna try this! It won’t affect the effectiveness of birth control though, right?

    • Michelle Karam says:

With any treatment we post on this site, it’s always best to ask your doctor first, as we aren’t medical professionals! Best of luck!

    • anon13 says:

I’m pretty sure rubbing salts and oils on yourself and sweating a bit isn’t going to impact your hormones, even if you ingest it, or hell, put it up your hoo-haw(for whatever reason).

  29. Lani says:

How often do you do this?

  30. casey says:

Doing this as I type. Even if it doesnt work its so nice to just relax. Got candles and some soft music going. So nice. May do it again just for the relaxation.

    • Michelle Karam says:

YAY! We love to hear that! Great that you’re taking some time out for yourself and just relaxing! You deserve it! xo M & M

  31. Lauren Derryberry says:

I am really looking forward to trying this! But where can I find the aloe vera liquid? Is it the same thing as aloe vera juice?

  32. Jason says:

Does it have to be naiouli the health stores here never heard of it so I ended up getting neroli is that ok

  33. Kailyn says:

    Hii there :)
This is by far the best blog I have read for a long time! I really hope this works.
I have a couple questions for you.. Firstly, could you use dead sea salt as a substitute for Epson salts? And can you use aloe vera gel instead of juice? Thanks!

  34. Monique says:

Hi!! I cant wait to try this your post was very helpful !! Im not a mom but I have a 5 years old neice who follows my every movee!! And is also very hurt when you don’t let her join in on activities so I decided me and my mom would do this together when I go home this weekend and I was wondering is this safe for my neice?? I mean she doesn’t need it to do anything to her I just don’t want her to feel left out you know? Is there something I can mix up for her that wont harm her but still make her feel like a “big girl”???

    • Michelle Karam says:

We wouldn’t recommend trying this on your little 5 year old niece… however, maybe you can get some lavender oil and give a foot or hand massage while you’re all wrapped up! ;-)

  36. Melinda says:

I have tried this twice and don’t see a difference :( I can’t seem to figure out what I’m doing wrong! I have all of the ingredients and follow the steps but when I take it off I see no change! Please help!

    • Michelle Karam says:

Hi Melinda! So sorry you’re not seeing a difference! While on some people the change can be drastic, on others it may not. It’s not an exact science unfortunately.

  37. Melinda says:

No worries! I’ve tried this a few times and enjoy the process. I may not see a drastic difference but I definitely look better in my clothes! I would recommend this wrap! And I also found vanilla scented Epsom salts and the smell is heavenly! Thank you!!

  38. Jacinta says:

A friend of mine posted this recipe and since I am trying to slim down my body (2 babies later) and get back into a bikini I want to give this a try. I’d like to be able to keep my proportions (38-28-42) just not the inches ;)

  39. Margo says:

How much do all the ingredients cost all together ? I want to start saving up to try this wrap technique !

  40. Jacinta says:

I did this wrap last night and right after I measured and lost 3″ on my thighs and stomach. I measured again this morning and I am down another 1.5″. Thank you so much for this recipe.

  41. Nappy Queen says:

THIS WAS RIGHT ON TIME! I will try it this week :) Thanks for posting.

  42. Brenda says:

Can you wrap kneck and face with ace bandage. Looking for something to tighten turkey kneck and make facial skin look more toned.

    • Michelle Karam says:

Absolutely! This wrap is fantastic for the face and neck too!

      • Emi says:

But it says DO NOT wrap face our neck area??

        • Michelle Karam says:

Correct… we’d hate for you to wrap your face up with plastic wrap. LOL. You can always use the bandages to wrap around your neck and jawline- but we’d avoid the face and mouth.

        • Michelle Ebbin says:

Some of the essential oils used in the wrap can irritate your eyes (especially if they are sensitive). So it’s best to keep the bandages soaked in the solution away from your eyes. Also, sometimes the skin on your face is much more sensitive than the skin on your body. This is a powerful natural solution than may irritate your face, especially if you use Retin-A and/or exfoliate your face regularly. I always play it safe and say stay away from the eyes, nose & mouth. The rest of the body is fine!

  43. Taylor says:

I love this blog. I really want to try this but is it okay for young women 18-22 to try this? If so I am definitely going to try this. hanks!

    • Michelle Ebbin says:

Absolutely! This is a great treatment for young women to try and use as they age to keep their skin and body as healthy as possible. Thanks for your comment!

  44. mika says:

Hi I plan on using this as a head start for a little weight lost and I was wondering if I continue with a good balanced diet and active workouts could the results possibly last? thank you. (please reply)

    • Michelle Ebbin says:

The results can definitely last with a healthy diet and exercise! Your body will thank you and you’ll love the way you look and feel! :-)

  45. mona says:

Were can I get all the items in nigeria, pls let me know need to try this tanx..

    • Michelle Ebbin says:

I don’t know the retail locations in Nigeria, but I believe you can order everything online. Good luck!

  46. Jazzy says:

Can I do this wrap more than once within in 10 days??

  47. Heather says:

    HI!

This looks amazing! I Have a big event coming up and I think I will give this a try. Question though: I have pretty big breasts, 34 D, If I use this wrap all over the body, what kind of results will I get on my breasts? I don’t want them smaller, more firm or lifted would be awesome, lol, but not smaller.

  48. Taylor Miller says:

Hi! I lost 60lbs about two years ago. I workout constantly but notice
My tummy skin is more loose than I would like. Would this wrap help my loose skin problem?

    • Michelle Karam says:

Yes! That’s what it’s meant for. Firming and toning. It does provide a temporary fix. Congrats on the weight loss too! Well done! Share a photo or your secret on how you lost 60 pounds.

  49. Rebeccar says:

Very happy and pleased to write I did this last night. I instantly lost and inch off my waist 1/2 an inch off my thighs and 1/2 an inch off my knees. This morning I took measurements again and lost another 1/2 an inch in those three areas. I did a double batch and saved the leftovers and soaked my neoprene pants in them and wearing them this morning while I do housework to see if this will also work… I suggestwearing sweatpants and socks over the bottom of the sweatpants cause you will be dripping all over… I love the results as my legs look tighter and firmer not saggy and dehydrated as I thought that they might… Thank you ladies so much for sharing…

  50. Rhoni says:

I am very small to begin with…I only weigh 98 lbs. My biggest problem is loose saggy bags of skin and fat on my belly area and some on my thighs (not too bad) from pregnancy. Can I wrap just my belly and thighs? Also, I seen someone else post that they lost cup sizes in the breast area even though they didn’t wrap the breasts. She was pleased, but I can’t afford to lose any so I’m wondering if that is common? lol

  51. Trish says:

Hi I’ve been looking everywhere for the right body wrap I’m doing the wrap now 18 Minutes in I reply bak with my results daily thank-you

  52. Hershey says:

Gonna try this dnt have aloe juice but i have the plant just gonna throw it n the pot dnt have the oils but i bodyoil that contains brazillin nuts n almond oils but i do have epsom salt. Hope it works

    • Michelle Ebbin says:

I think the aloe vera plant would be great! Squeeze out as much as you can. Good luck! Have fun! This wrap totally works. :-)

  53. Tori says:

Hi…if I do this can I reuse the bandages for another time I want to wrap?

    • Michelle Ebbin says:

Absolutely! I suggest you wash them in the washer and hang them to dry before you use them again. You can use them until they lose their stickiness, or if you are using bandages w/ pins you can probably use them until they fall apart!

  54. Kimberly says:

Will this wrap work for men too?

  55. Crystal says:

How many days should you wait in between doing these and what is the longest length of time that you can leave it on?

    • Michelle Ebbin says:

You can do this wrap everyday if you like. Depending on how tight you wrap the bandages, you can leave this wrap on for as long as you are comfortable. By 2 hours your skin usually gets “pruney” so you’ll probably want to remove it by then. Hope this helps!

  56. Persa says:

Hello! I had a question, can you do this wrap more frequently, than just once every 10 days. My wedding is 11 days away and I wanted to feel my best in my gown. Thanks! :)

    • Michelle Karam says:

Congratulations on your big day! You can probably get away with doing this wrap 2 times. Send us a photo of you! We’d love to see what you look like on your wedding day! xo Michelle & Michelle

  57. kai says:

picking up supplies now and trying first time today <3

  58. Melanie says:

Can I use aloe vera gel instead?

  59. Becca says:

Do you think it would be a good idea to try this and go into the sauna??

  60. Andrea says:

Can you use tea tree oil?

  61. Tanya says:

Do you hav to use all the oils or just one of the 4 you hav listed?

  62. clara says:

    are the results perm.

  63. diana says:

Well this work on saggy skin? Im 35 and my hubby wants me to have a body lift. :( i have had 3 9lb babies and they took a toll on my body. I work out, crunches, leg lifts, sit ups. I bikw 24 miles a day. Will this help my flabby tummy?

  64. Mattw says:

My wife and I have wanted to try the wraps for a while. We have researched wraps for about 6 months and have found that every wrap has its own audience. This morning I decided to try this one so that I could report the results to my wife. I uses Epsom salt, lavender oil, and aloe Vera gel. Nothing else. I have been wrapped for about 15 mins now and I can say that something is happening; my entire waist is tingling. I will report back with results, good or bad.
