So many people I know are suffering from a cold, cough or flu right now. I know, it SUCKS! Especially when you’re sick and the kids are sick too. Here’s my secret concoction you can make in minutes to combat those pesty germs that are wreaking havoc on your body. Massage this oil onto the chest and back for soothing relief. (Caution: Do not use this anywhere near the eyes! It’s powerful stuff.)
Powerful Anti-Flu Massage Oil
½ cup all-natural oil (almond, grapeseed, sesame, olive are all great)
4-6 drops of eucalyptus essential oil*
4-6 drops of clove essential oil*
¼ tsp. cayenne pepper powder
¼ tsp. ground ginger
*You can adjust the amount of these oils to your liking.
Whisk this together so that the cayenne pepper and ginger mix with the oil and there’s not a lot of clumps. Pour it into a glass container. (This can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 8 weeks.)
Massage this oil onto the chest by moving your hands in a heart shape formation. Do this several times with firm pressure. Next, massage this all over the back making small circles with the palms of your hands. Relax and let the oil sink in. You’ll feel a tingly, warmth all over.
The cayenne pepper has capsaicin in it, which is recommended for congestion, stuffy nose, muscle aches and sore throat. The clove oil is warming and the eucalyptus oil helps with congestion. According to traditional Chinese medicine, ginger has strong yang energy and warms the stomach and lungs. The Chinese have been using these ingredients for 2,500 years to treat congestion, sinus pain and sore throat, so why not give it a try?!
