Thanksgiving is literally biting me in my ass at this point. The stress of knowing that I will be responsible for feeding 40 of our “closest” is no small feat. I’m lucky that I actually like most of my family members. (Note to family members, please do not ask if you are part of the most list)
What says fall more than apple cider? What says cozy comfy mommy and daddy on a couch snuggling after the kids go to bed more than a cup of Spicked Spiced Apple Cider?
Give this one a try and sleep like a baby tonight or make one.
- 1 Gallon Apple Cider
- 3 Cinnamon Sticks
- 2 Tablespoons Light-Brown Sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoons Allspice
- 4 Whole Cloves
- ½ A Vanilla Bean, split in half or ¼ tsp. Pure Vanilla Extract
- ½ teaspoon Nutmeg
- If you want this to be just for the adults add ½ cup Calvados (Apple Brandy) or Brandy into the pot.
This drink originated in the Prohibition Era, as far back as the early 1920’s… It’s name comes from a slang term from the same era that the flappers used to describe something of the utmost excellence… and ladies which one of us doesn’t think we are the bees knees!
Now I’m not a gin drinker at all, but this truly is the bees knees when it comes to a drink with gin in it. It’s simple, only has 3 ingredients and who knew they could taste so good together!
Get ready to get your buzz on.
The Bees Knees Cocktail
- 2 oz. Gin
- 1 ½ teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 Tablespoon Honey mixed with 1 Tablespoon Warm Water
Combine all ingredients in a shaker over ice and shake shake shake!
Strain into a chilled glass. Garnish with Lemon.
Ok Moms out there! I bet you were thinking to yourself, well, it’s Monday… I probably shouldn’t drink today…You know, kids have school tomorrow, I need to be alert for the week… can’t be sporting a hangover on Tuesday… Well, I’d normally agree with you but maybe I can convince you to give this one a try. I mean hell, it wouldn’t be in the bartenders manual if it weren’t really meant for Mondays, right?
This drink is called a Blue Monday! How appropriate. I mean if anything could lift my spirits on a Monday, it’s this spirit! It’s traditionally made with Blue Curacao but I really don’t know that I can stomach too much of that stuff so I made a little twist of my own on it to add a little freshness and well, I think you’re going to love it!
So whether it’s Monday or ANY day of the week, give this a try and I can assure you… you won’t be so blue after this one!
- 1 1/2 oz. Vodka
- 1/2 oz. Triple Sec
- 1/4 oz. Blue Curacao
- 1/2 oz. Blueberry Juice
- 1/2 oz. Pineapple Juice
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a cocktail glass.
Garnish with lime.
